Welcome to the online home of the Musical Entertainments Committe.
The Musical Entertainments Committee, or MEC, was set up with the sole purpose of producing live musical events, with the support of local organisations, in the Rothwell area.

MEC was primarily formed by people involved in technical theatre and the technical side of producing live music events. Such as lighting, or LX, technicians and designers and Sound Engineers.

The aim of MEC is to produce new or reinstate lost live musical events in the Rothwell area. In order to complete this task MEC works closley with other local organisations including it's larger sister organisation the Rothwell Entertainments Committee, or REC.

6th May 2007 | Summer Event Confirmed!

Announcing the first MEC organised event! As was speculated in previous news MEC is organising a stage for live musical performances for local artists in the annual Rothwell Carnival in Spring Head Park. The event's line up is yet to be announced however will include music of a wide varieties of genres. More information will appear here and on the gigs page when it becomes avaliable.

18th April 2007 | Possible plans for a Summer Event

While our first planned event suffered at the hands of fate after a discovery of asbestos put the intended venue out of action for several weeks there are now plans in the pipeline for a new event. While nothing is confirmed it is possiable that there will be a small scale open air event in the summer which may be linked with the Rothwell Carnival in Spring Head Park. Keep an eye out for confirmation of this event and more information here.

FIRST EVER MEC EVENT CONFIRMED TO BE PART OF 2007 ROTHWELL CARNIVAL IN JULY.

One of the aims of MEC is to include local people. We want to build up a crew of people that are keen to become involved in the technical side of live events. Equiries from people of any skill level is more than welcome
